Safe Drinking Water Act

A new federal mandate went into effect on August 6, 1998 called the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). This act made it "unlawful" to sell, or install, pipe or pipe fittings that are not lead free.

The products produced by Westlake Pipe & Fittings comply with this Act. All fittings manufactured by Westlake Pipe & Fittings use material that is certified to comply with the ANSI/NSF Standard 60 regulatory requirements. Currently the federal law does not require the manufacturer to list or label products that meet the SDWA criteria. Westlake Pipe & Fittings Schedule 40, Schedule 80 and insert fittings are listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) for use in potable water applications and comply with Standard 14 and 61.
